WELCOME TO MY PRACTICE!
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I have worked with individuals who display an amazing diversity in their ages, ethnicities, races, nationalities, genders, and socio-economic status, but who share a desire to overcome varying emotional and behavioral problems in their lives. Whether I am intervening with incarcerated offenders who have been convicted of violent offenses or children who present with emotional and behavioral issues, I have learned that understanding is the key to successfully helping people face their difficulties in ways that effectively cope with, improve, or end burdensome personal challenges.
Many people who choose to see a psychologist are struggling with sadness, anger, life transitions, relationships, or traumatic events. They may feel guilty about asking for help and feel uncomfortable when they recognize the ambivalent nature of a conflict. I offer my patients an opportunity to be understood and allow them to feel that they are no longer alone or invisible. I respond compassionately to my patients’ concerns as we work together to identify specific problems and issues that are making them feel as though their lives are not working as they would wish, while we outline strategies, techniques, and changes that can make them feel better. |
I have studied and treated people who suffer from such conditions as post-traumatic stress; abuse; adjustments to changes and transitions in life; aging and geriatric phenomena; issues in childhood and adolescence; depression; difficulties in relationships and marriage; and concerns related to cultural differences between the culture in which the patient was raised and the new culture s/he has adopted.
